While each living thing is a single physical body characterized by instincts, only human beings have identity. Born of self-determination, human identity transcends instincts, identifies with self-awareness, creates unique individuality and inspires creativity. Identity separates human beings from animals. Each single animal is nothing but its physical body. Its selfness is defined by the instincts of its species. Each single body is separate from one another, but it has neither self-awareness nor individuality. However, human selfness is not given; rather, it is self-created. Therefore, one’s identity results from one’s conscious creativeness over a lifetime. This generated identity has a unique quality, which makes each human being different.
