RehabilitationRehabilitation is one of the core activities of psychiatric social work. It is “a process of minimizing psychiatric impairment, social disadvantages, and adverse personal reactions so that the disabled person is helped to use his talents and to acquire confidence and self-esteemed through experiencing success in social roles” (General Assembly, 1993). Psychiatric rehabilitationPsychiatric rehabilitation (*) (also known as psycho-social rehabilitation) concerns helping and empowering individuals with mental illness regarding their cognitive development and reinstating them in their community. Disability assessment, employability, integration into society, and resocialization are the essential areas where the services of psychiatric social workersPsychiatric social worker (*) have been extended. Psychiatric social workers’ function emphasizes the society’s political, social, economical, and psychological context. Psychiatric social workers play multi-layered roles in mental health services in hospitals and the community.
