Psychiatric social workPsychiatric social work is one of the specialized areas of the psychiatric setup with a developing body of knowledge and skill. It bears a close relationship to psychiatry, psychology, anthropology, sociology, mental hygiene, and other fields of social sciences, and is strongly influenced by developments in each area. A psychiatric social worker should be more familiar with mental health theories that strive to explain human development behaviourally, psychologically, and socially.
