This chapter studies MDO-oriented modeling. First, we outline the features, general principles, steps and common methods of MDO modeling. Second, we introduce three main modeling approaches in turn: parametric modeling, variable complexity modeling, model verification and validation. Among them, the parametric modeling mainly contains the CAD method, grid discretization method, and analytic function method. The main steps of variable complexity modeling include the experimental design method, multi-physics field simulation analysis, and variable complexity modeling. The model verification and validation mainly involves basic concepts and general processes etc.
