A Case Study on Effective Water Management and Sustainable Agriculture in Jalna, Maharashtra

This case study delves into the remarkable transformation of Shivani village, located in the Jalna district of Maharashtra, from struggling with chronic water scarcity to becoming a beacon of effective water management and sustainable agriculture. The concerted efforts of the villagers, spearheaded by their collaboration with the Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Jalna, and the adoption of innovative water conservation techniques, have yielded substantial improvements in agricultural productivity and overall quality of life. This study meticulously documents the systematic approach to rainwater harvesting, the establishment of a participatory water budgeting process, and the invaluable collaboration with scientific bodies, which collectively contributed to significant socio-economic and environmental benefits for the village.
