Investigation on the Effect of Micro Water Content on the Dielectric Properties of Natural Ester Insulation Oil by Molecular Dynamics Simulation

The insulation system of high-voltage electrical equipment is affected by many factors, such as moisture, aging, mechanical stress, and the electric field under operating conditions. In particular, the presence of micro water content greatly impacts the dielectric characteristics of the natural ester insulation oil. The existing research lacks the study of micro water content on natural ester insulation oil from a microscopic point of view. Therefore, some molecular models of natural ester insulation oil with water contents of 1%, 3%, 5%, 7% were constructed, and the diffusion coefficient, free volume and dielectric constant of the model were calculated in the paper. The simulation results show that, with the increasing in micro water content, the free volume of natural ester insulation oil molecules increases, the degree of the movement increases, and the relative dielectric constant increases.
