Transmission line icing has attracted the interest of many researchers but has not been perfectly solved, and insulator icing is one of the problems to be faced. In the current research, the focus is all on the analysis of the insulator flashover process arc, however the ultraviolet light emitted during the discharge process can help to further analyze the insulator discharge analysis. In this paper, in order to study the natural iced insulator discharge law, the use of ultraviolet photon meter on the natural iced insulator string discharge process, and combined with the shooting results of the discharge process photons change rule is analyzed.
