An Improved LVRT Strategy of VSG-Based Grid-Forming Inverters Under the Influence of the Short-Circuit Current
摘要
As the most important control strategy in gird-forming inverters, virtual synchronous generator (VSG) control strategy can provide grid voltage support and frequency support functions when a symmetrical fault occurs on the grid side of the point of common coupling (PCC). Once a fault occurred on the transmission line, the short-circuit current is determined by the output voltage of the inverter and the impedance of the fault section and equivalent internal impedance. The reference voltage given by the traditional low-voltage ride through (LVRT) strategy method only considered the voltage support functions, but unreasonably high reference voltage would generate larger short-circuit current. And thus, the grid-forming inverters may be cut off under the action of the overcurrent protection device. In this paper, the coupling effects of the LVRT strategy of VSG-based grid-forming inverters and the short-circuit current flowing through the transmission line are detailed analyzed, and then an improved LVRT strategy of VSG-based grid-forming inverters is proposed and discussed, which can help to balance the voltage support function and short-circuit current limitation for grid-forming inverters.
