The requirement of good quality aggregates for road construction and other infrastructure works has always been crucial to the industry. The ever-increasing demand of natural aggregates has made us to question its availability in terms of economic and environmental aspects. As such, in recent years, the practice of recycling and reuse of different types of waste material in new construction and rehabilitation work has gained dynamic momentum. One of such aspect can be application of Reclaimed Asphalt Pavement (RAP) material in the road construction industry. This paper presents the suitability of RAP material with geosynthetic reinforcement as base course for the pavements. To model the pavement layers at laboratory scale, an indigenously developed equipment namely ‘Repeated Load Applicator for Pavement Performance’ was used. Based on laboratory scale pavement model study, it was found that the performance of RAP material as a Base Course Layer can be enhanced when it is placed in conjunction with geosynthetic materials such as Geocell and Geogrids. The improvements and effectiveness were gauged with regard to Traffic Benefit Ratio (TBR) and Rut Depth Reduction factors (RDRF). Experimental analysis indicated that RAP Material with geocell for base layers of pavement performs better compared to geogrid and unreinforced case. From the test results, high RDRF factors were found in Geocell reinforced (39%) followed by Geogrid reinforced (17%) when likened to the unreinforced RAP bases.
