Behavior of Vertically Confined Square Footing on Reinforced Sand Under Eccentric Loading
摘要
This article presents a laboratory investigation program performed on laterally confined shallow square footing placed on geogrid reinforced sand under one-way eccentric loading. Effect of confiner and reinforcements for different footing configurations under vertical loading with varied eccentricity (x/B′ = 0, 0.1, 0.15, 0.2; where x and B′ are eccentricity and width of the footing respectively) along with different parametric variations such as the upper surface dimension of the confiner, spacing between reinforcements, number and length of reinforcements have been investigated. Variation in increment in load-carrying capacity of square footing with confiner and reinforcements under eccentric loading is evaluated from the load intensity-settlement curve. Additionally, a non-dimensional factor named settlement reduction factor (SRF) is calculated for each footing configuration to assess the reduction in settlement of the footing.
