Additive manufacturing (AM) encompasses distinct techniques, such as stereolithography, selective laser sintering, selective laser melting, electron beam melting, fused deposition modeling, etc. Each method offers distinct merits, such as SLA providing high resolution, FDM offering affordability, and SLS offering speed, among others. Thus, this chapter focuses on these different AM methods to understand the differences, which is crucial for selecting the optimal method for specific applications from prototype fabrication to production, in different sectors such as aerospace, medical, automotive, etc.

摘要

Additive manufacturing (AM) encompasses distinct techniques, such as stereolithography, selective laser sintering, selective laser melting, electron beam melting, fused deposition modeling, etc. Each method offers distinct merits, such as SLA providing high resolution, FDM offering affordability, and SLS offering speed, among others. Thus, this chapter focuses on these different AM methods to understand the differences, which is crucial for selecting the optimal method for specific applications from prototype fabrication to production, in different sectors such as aerospace, medical, automotive, etc.
