Application of Nanotechnology in Medicine
摘要
Nanotechnology is a discipline of science and engineering pertaining to fabricating structures, devices, and systems by manipulating atoms and molecules at nanoscale. In 1959, noble laureate physicist Richard Feynman first introduced the concept of nanotechnology in an invited talk at the annual meeting of American Physical Society at California Institute of Technology, USA. Reduction of a material from macro to nano form/nano size results in changes in its physical, chemical, and other properties. These unique properties of nanomaterials can be utilized for diverse applications like industrial processing, energy sector, metallurgy, agriculture, packaging, textile, cosmetics, medicine, and so on. The area of medical application of nanotechnology is also termed as “Nanomedicine.” Now it has become one of the most promising technologies of the twenty-first century along with digital technology like artificial intelligence. The nanoparticles are made from different organic and inorganic materials. Examples of organic material are lipid, protein, carbohydrate, biopolymer, etc. Large number of inorganic materials are also used like metal, metal oxide, ceramics, silica, carbon, etc.
