Posterior Urethral Valves
摘要
Posterior urethral valve (PUV) is the most common cause of urinary obstruction in males. The long-term prognosis in an individual with this disorder is determined by a combination of the degree of early abnormal development of the urethra, bladder, kidneys and ureters, and the severity of late secondary effects of outflow obstruction on the bladder and the upper urinary tract. As nearly one-fourth are expected to develop chronic kidney disease in their lifetime, constant follow-up through to adulthood is essential.
