Satellite remote sensing technology has rapidly developed in the late twentieth century due to its ability to provide frequent and long-lasting surface information, analyze changes in uninhabited areas and geographic and climatic factors that are unobservable to the naked eye, and offer a comprehensive and detailed understanding of the ecological environment. The rapid development and diversification of satellite data have caused scholars to have “happy troubles”: which of such a large amount of data should be chosen for analysis and research? This chapter presents a comparative analysis of three commonly used land use data and one net primary productivity data based on a detailed introduction of various satellite data products with the objective of providing researchers with ideas and references for selecting appropriate data for their work.
