Higher Education and Economic Development: Innovation

Through its universities and research centres, Singapore has established itself as an increasingly important global research hub. This chapter provides an overview of Singapore’s research and innovation ecosystem. It discusses the ways in which Singapore’s various higher education institutions, research institutes and laboratories have contributed to enterprise and innovation in Singapore. Backed by extensive and targeted government funding, these organisations have contributed significantly to research outputs as well as new innovations.
