Setting the Scene for Researching Revision in an EFL Writing Context
摘要
This chapter sets the scene for exploring revision from the perspective of self-regulated learning (SRL) in an English-as-a-foreign-language (EFL) writing context. It begins with a description of the crucial role of self-regulation in the complex revision process, arguing that existing research exploring revision from the SRL perspective remains insufficient in second language contexts. It then proceeds to describe problems in current writing instructional practices in EFL writing classrooms in China. This chapter concludes by highlighting the necessity of helping Chinese EFL students to revise effectively by cultivating their SRL abilities.
