Authentication has been such an important issue since the beginning of human civilization that people have used some mechanism to check the authenticity of a person before sharing any secret or valuable information. When a person was known, biological features such as the face and sound were good enough to authenticate the person. But it wasn’t easy to authenticate when the person was unknown, and no one at the receiving end had seen or heard him. In such cases, people used to carry some artefact, e.g. some personal belongings of the sender, which the receiver can identify, to authenticate himself. So, authentication is not a modern-day problem rather, It is an ancient one, although the methods used to authenticate kept changing. We use different mechanisms for this purpose, including login password, graphical password, token-based authentication, biometric authentication, etc. In this paper, a novel idea has been proposed that can keep the bystanders/onlookers/intruders at bay and can keep your password safe. This paper proposes an innovative idea of using a random 4-digit PIN and password along with the username. It lets the user use the PIN to obfuscate the text password. The scheme was implemented, and results were obtained and analysed. The study shows that the proposed scheme can handle many attacks, including observing a single time or multiple times or recording the session, which is insufficient to get the correct credentials.
