This study investigates user perspectives on autonomous language learning through mobile applications, with a focus on leading apps like Duolingo, Babbel, and Memrise. A mixed-methods approach was employed, combining survey data from 266 participants with in-depth interviews of 25 selected users. The research examines user motivations, learning preferences, perceived effectiveness of app features, and challenges encountered during self-directed language learning. Findings reveal a diverse range of motivations for using language learning apps, with personalized learning paths and gamification being identified as key factors in user engagement. While users generally reported positive learning experiences, challenges related to motivation, self-discipline, and the need for supplementary resources were also noted. The study concludes with recommendations for app developers and language educators to enhance the effectiveness of mobile apps for autonomous language learning in professional contexts.
