Traditional manual updates are time-wasting and error-prone. These frequent price changes lead to discrepancies between displayed prices and checkout prices, causing customer dissatisfaction and operational inefficiencies. This research aims to develop a smart real-time electronic price tag system using Bluetooth and cloud technologies to automate and streamline price updates in retail stores. The system integrates Bluetooth-enabled price tags with a central management system connected via cloud technology. It involves developing electronic price tags using the E104-BT5011A module and integrating the Zoey.africa software for point of sales and central management. On implementing Bluetooth for real-time communication between the central system and price tags. The central system, cashier's system, and electronic price tags are synchronized to have updated price data for each product in real time. The system successfully automates price updates, reducing manual labour and ensuring consistency among the central administrator, price tag display, and checkout prices in real time. Further, enhancing operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. The developed Bluetooth-based price tag system provides a reliable solution for real-time price management in retail, addressing the challenges of frequent price updates and ensuring accurate pricing information for customers.
