This chapter establishes a mathematical model for the aggregation and breakage of flocs (or particles) in the full tailings flocculation process, especially for the collision efficiency and breakage frequency models. FT-PBM is a system of ordinary differential equations (ODE), so MATLAB’s ode15s was used to solve FT-PBM. Then, the particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm and the particle size distribution data measured by FBRM in Chap. 2 were applied to optimize the undetermined parameters in collision efficiency and breakage frequency. Finally, FT-PBM was established.
