Fast computation of the 1-D and 2-D linear convolution and correlation operations by using the DFT is presented. Implementing the convolution of long sequences using the overlap-save and overlap-add methods along with the DFT is explained. Some applications, using the DFT to implement the convolution and correlation operations, in image processing and digital communications applications are presented in detail.
