Sporothecae 0.5–2 mm high, 0.1–0.8 mm wide, long clavate, subcylindrical to ovoid, sometimes subspherical, pale grey, grey or brownish yellow. Peridium fugacious, sometimes remaining on the expanded reticulum of capillitial threads. Calyculus small, concolourous with sporotheca or darker, furrowed on outer surface, minutely verruculose insides. Stalks 0.2–1.5 mm long, slender, concolourous with sporotheca or nearly black, with hyaline globose cells. Hypothallus membranous. Capillitial threads concolourous with sporotheca, firmly connected to calyculus, closely meshed, at periphery closely covered with blunt spines, sometimes with broad teeth and half rings. Spores 6.5–8 μm in diam., globose, concolourous with sporotheca in mass. Plasmodia white, rarely grey or yellow.
