Pileus 25–35 mm in diam., flattened hemispherical at first, then extending to plane, dark brown to chestnut brown, tomentose when dry, subviscid when wet; margin exceeding or incurved. Context beige to pale yellow, bluing slowly when bruised. Tubes beige or pale yellow at first, olivaceous yellow when mature, becoming blue when bruised. Pores compound, angular, concolorous with tubes. Stipe 40–70 mm long, 3–7 mm thick, cylindrical, concolorous with pileus or slightly paler, densely with dark brown squamules, with white basal mycelium. Basidiospores 9–11 × 3.5–4.5 μm, fusiform, smooth, pale olivaceous yellow. Pileipellis as a palisade of septate hyphae embedded in a gelatinous layer.
