Redox-active metal complexes have emerged as a great alternative treatment modality in the arena of cancer compared with traditional methods. They generally react with intracellular reducing agents such as GSH, ASA, and NADH and get reduced. The redox activity of metals is very useful in drug release, TrxR inhibition, lipid peroxidation, and even in the generation of ROS. All these phenomena then lead to cancer cell apoptosis. The present review will highlight the recent advancements in the field of redox active metal complexes which act as potent anticancer agents for cancer.

摘要

Redox-active metal complexes have emerged as a great alternative treatment modality in the arena of cancer compared with traditional methods. They generally react with intracellular reducing agents such as GSH, ASA, and NADH and get reduced. The redox activity of metals is very useful in drug release, TrxR inhibition, lipid peroxidation, and even in the generation of ROS. All these phenomena then lead to cancer cell apoptosis. The present review will highlight the recent advancements in the field of redox active metal complexes which act as potent anticancer agents for cancer.
