The paper attempts to describe the realisation of the High Rising Terminal (HRT) in different English dialects. Only declarative utterances have been analysed. The material for the research includes phrases containing HRT produced by local radio show hosts from Belfast and Newcastle. The research findings have revealed that there is considerable similarity between the intonation contours used by the speakers of both dialects.

摘要
