Enhancing Self-Esteem and Autonomy: The Key to Empowering Tribal Women and Driving Social Change
摘要
This chapter deals with the issue of self-confidence and autonomy among women in tribal society and their role in women empowerment and other social efforts. Even today, in the twenty-first century, tribal women face many problems, such as gender, ethnicity, and socioeconomic exclusion. Due to this, they do not get equal opportunities in education, healthcare, and economic benefits. The ideas of self-esteem (which is a woman’s strong inner belief in her own worth) and autonomy (i.e., a woman’s ability to actually make decisions about herself) are the two elements on which the chapter has based its study. Thus, this chapter attempts to explain how the self-esteem and autonomy of women in tribal areas promote a better life for the individual, family, and society. The focus is on the universal development of tribal women with a logic-based analysis as well as examples of successful interventions based on Self Help Groups (SHGs), microfinance programs, and health care initiatives. The study can be summarized that when tribal women know and assert themselves, it will impact coming generations and guarantee social improvement. Finally, the summary implications of tribal women’s empowerment are discussed, such as future dimensions of sustainable development, economic growth, health outcomes, political participation, and cultural preservation.
