Tribal Women Empowerment: Challenges and Prospects

The aim of the study is to assess the current situation of tribal women and their progress in acquiring new skills. The tribal group in India has experienced several types of deprivation, including being separated from their land and other resources. Despite their isolation from mainstream national life, tribal women are not shielded from the influence of socioeconomic developments that affect society as a whole. During this process of transformation, the tribal woman is compelled to conform to specific standards that may deprive her of her autonomy, her authority over the customary economic structure, her residence, her family and offspring, and even her own existence. It is undeniable that a significant proportion of tribal women have been deprived of education at various points in their lives. To empower them, it is crucial to offer them chances that will enable them to develop leadership skills for economic self-sufficiency and social change. There is a common claim that these women, as a collective, have low levels of ambition and are content with their current state and possessions. This statement applies not only to women but to everybody who has a sense of helplessness and frustration. To foster the growth of their ambitions, it is essential to offer sufficient educational opportunities that will inspire them to engage, endorse, and eventually take the lead in their own development initiatives. This paper discusses the different roles that women in tribal communities perform in life and work. In India, tribal women are still striving for full equality even though the Constitution guarantees them equal rights. In order to meet the constitutional mandate of women’s empowerment, the Parliament has enacted a number of particular laws. Across the entirety of India, the Central Government, in conjunction with the State Governments, has initiated a multitude of programs that are particularly geared toward empowering women. The goal is to reach maximum potential by ensuring equal opportunity to make decisions at home and in the workplace as well as by providing access to tools and information. Thus, this research aims to analyze the current state of educational resources accessible to tribal girls and women. Additionally, it recommends offering skill and career development courses to tribal women residing in remote regions.
