Transforming Freedom into Women’s Empowerment Through Logotherapy: An Overview
摘要
This chapter provides a scientific base for understanding the core components of logotherapy and its impact on improving the self-efficacy of Indian women by making strategic life choices that are crafted out of deep introspection about living purposefully and meaningfully as a way of living. Like some of the core psychotherapies, psychoanalysis by Sigmund Freud focused on subconscious processes, while Alfred Adler considered individual psychology as the subject matter of his psychotherapy. This was followed by Viktor Frankl emphasizing existentialism as a pivotal aspect of his psychotherapy. This chapter discusses in detail the qualitative research and findings on how this therapeutic approach has led women towards building the right attitude in leading overall aspects of their life more scientifically and spiritually, further honing their life skills and ensuring to stay centered within. It further provides the insight to effectively understand and improve the quality of life using logotherapy. In this chapter, the author critically evaluates the stereotypes preventing women from working at the grassroots level of empowerment, which would help them further combat the limitations and restructure their belief system as a milestone to attain empowerment. Here, we encourage and recommend using logotherapy as a tool to realize the freedom to find purpose in the face of difficulties and obstacles, as well as how to find ways to transform that freedom into empowerment.
