摘要

Simulation works were conducted by using ANSYS WORKBENCH based on the results collected from the analytical model analysis. There is an intention to consider various femoral head diameter sizes to analyze three critical mechanical aspect assessments from the simulation which are the contact pressureContact pressure, Von-MisesVon-Mises stress, and total deformation. However, there are two main issues that arise from the simulation which halted us from using too many various acetabular component sizes. Firstly, the parameter consideration was on the Metal-on-Polymer (MoPMoP) THRTHR only. If the femoral head is too big, it will require a greater size of acetabular cup liner and metal backingMetal backing. Thus, considering the typical hip pelvis of any normal human body, any size of femoral head diameter exceeding 36 mm is not suitable to be used at the THR for the MoP case study.
