Cities today are facing the common problems of climate change and flooding risk. As urbanization increases, the amount of buildings and impervious surfaces also increases, this is combined with decrease in green and blue spaces The urban catchment of Bellandur Lake, located in the rapidly developing region of Bangalore, India, has witnessed substantial urbanization in recent decades. This transformation has raised concerns about the impact of developmental activities on the ecological integrity of the lake and its associated streams. This study seeks to comprehensively understand this complex interplay between urban development and natural hydrology. Method: The research employs a multi-faceted approach to achieve its objectives. Firstly, extensive geospatial analyses and field surveys are conducted to delineate the geographical extent of the Bellandur Lake catchment and to identify the stream orders. The streams are juxtaposed with urban development. The conflicts between them are identified through comparative analysis. Concurrently, a systematic review of relevant literature and case studies is undertaken to extract best management practices for post-development stormwater drainage. Results: From an understanding of the nature of conflicts between development and hydrology, suitable best management practices are identified to be applied to the urban catchment region of Bellandur.
