Indian markets are one the guide to explore the chronology of the country. They widely contribute to the pronunciation of cultural significance. The gradual change in these markets describes the economic timeline of the country. Through time these market streets (the bazaars) have invited a lot of informal setups like hawkers and street vendors. On the other hand, the change in marketing infrastructure also occurred. The current perception of markets originates from the social and economic contexts of the West particularly united states and Europe. A typical bazar of India can be defined as an order in that chaos. They are many such bazaars built gradually in old cities of the country. To retain the texture of these markets it is essential to understand the importance of informal markets and simultaneously work on enhancing the cultural significance. A specific research of the transformations occurred in Chandni Chowk, Delhi has been studied to suggest the strategies to preserve the essence of Indian markets by enhancing the cultural significance and also the quality of the informal sector. This paper will be a consolidation of understanding the working of the informal sector, but the heritage and architectural conservation are not addressed.
