Integrating Computational Thinking via AI-Based Design-Based Learning Activities
摘要
This chapter discusses integrating computational thinking (CT) as an essential skill for generating effective solutions to complex problems in different disciplines through a design-based learning (DBL) approach. Furthermore, this chapter also addresses the role of artificial intelligence (AI) in education and highlights its potential to enhance students’ CT skills through AI-based design-based learning activities. The application of AI in various educational activities, such as using AI as a collaboration tool, providing personalized feedback, and developing AI-supported learning frameworks, are discussed. The chapter proposes a framework for designing AI-supported DBL activities based on the TPACK framework, including knowledge domains related to DBL, content, and AI tools. It proposes extending this framework to design AI-supported design-based learning activities that combine CT knowledge with host content. Based on this framework, it also presents a detailed seven-step learning activity plan for integrating AI-supported DBL into CT instruction.
