Politics of Representation: Caste, Co-option, and Dalit Politics
摘要
This chapter explores Dalits’ expressions, articulations, and mobilisation in different levels of electoral politics, staking their claims to the city vis-a-vis the envisioned nation. As the neighbourhood is part of a reserved assembly constituency, caste assumes saliency and is implicated in political mobilisation, electoral participation, and political representation. How political reservation influence the construction and reconstruction of multilayered religio-political identity and what are the implications of the reserved constituency on urban Dalit politics?
