In this era of rapid and continuous technological development, maintaining environmental sustainability is a challenging task for industry stakeholders, especially for civil engineers. Considering sustainability as the main objective, this paper has explored the utilization of recycled aggregate from construction and demolition waste to prepare a durable, low-cost, yet sustainable concrete mixture by using a novel approach, namely the Tarantula curve method, for concrete mix design. Thus, this study investigates the effective utilization of recycled coarse aggregate (RCA) over natural coarse aggregate (NAC) while preparing concrete mixture by comparing traditional Indian stand method (IS: 10262-2009) with the novel Tarantula curve method. Inspecting the properties and performance of the materials and concrete mix, including specific gravity, gradation of aggregate, and compressive strength at 7 days and 28 days. The result illuminates the efficacy of the tarantula curve method in terms of enhanced mechanical performance and improved durability properties with a limited water-cement ratio. In a nutshell, this study highlights the significance of novel methodology for concrete mix design and the potential of recycled material (RCA) in concrete to overcome the challenges towards sustainability goals in the construction sector.
