Then and Now
摘要
Then and Now is a visual essay contrasting Sydney’s historical and contemporary food landscapes. It features 46 images within 16 figures and combines artistic depictions and historic photographs with modern drone and satellite imagery. By mirroring past and present fields of view and layering and stacking imagery, the chapter reveals Sydney food landscapes’ temporal changes. Images focus on three themes: Government Farms (Figs. 8.2–8.6), Estates (Figs. 8.7 and 8.8) and Planning Rhetoric (Figs. 8.11–8.15)—the latter contrasting planning claims with built outcomes—as well as including general images (Figs. 8.1, 8.9, 8.10 and 8.16).
