Cross-Linguistic Play
摘要
This chapter takes a very different turn from the preceding ones, in that it considers language play involving more than one language (or dialect); hitherto all discussion has been on monolingual activities. In Chap. 18 on Erroneous English we saw how one language can influence output in another language (though not deliberately so, until it is ‘collected’). This is not the issue here, however. It is where two language varieties are deliberately involved. The output may be varied: whimsical, serious or academic.
