Application-Oriented Optimization Method for Switched Reluctance Motor Drive Systems

Application-oriented design optimization methods are a set of techniques used to optimize the design of a system or product based on its intended application. These methods are based on the idea that the design of a product should be tailored to the specific requirements of its intended use rather than being optimized for a generic set of specifications. This chapter aims to present an application-oriented design optimization method for switched reluctance motor (SRM) drive systems by considering multiple operation modes. An example of an SRM applied in an electric vehicle is investigated. More optimization concepts, such as multi-mode optimization and correlation analysis regarding the multiple driving cycles, are introduced for the specific application.
