Demand for clean water is increasing as the global population is increasing from time to time. As there is limited amount of fresh water globally, it is must to find other ways to use waste and marine water for consumption. This chapter focuses on wastewater treatment using electroflotation. Most conventional methods of wastewater treatment involve the removal of waste particles but in some cases, contaminants will be too small to be removed by using these methods, so we need further electrochemical methods such as electroflotation, electroflocculation, and electrocoagulation. By using the application of electroflotation, particles can be easily removed by sedimentation or filtration. Flotation is a process in which floats coagulated and flocculated contaminants in water by application bubbles. Flocculation is the process of making large aggregates from the destabilized particles by conglomeration to increase the weight of particles in order to be separated from the water easily whereas flotation separates very tiny particles based on their capacity to float. Electroflotation wastewater treatment method has emerged as a promising mechanism for the removal of suspended solids, oils, and various contaminants from water bodies. In-depth explanation of electroflotation, including factors affecting electroflotation, equipment used and the challenges related to the electroflotation are explained in this chapter.
