Leveraging Remote Work in Transitioning to Low-Carbon Economy in Vietnam
摘要
This paper explores the potential impact of remote work on Vietnam’s transition to a low-carbon economy. The analysis emphasizes the role of remote work in reducing transportation emissions and argues for the legislative enablement of remote work to achieve this transition. Empirical evidence highlights the benefits of remote work, with rising adoption rates during COVID-19 linked to reduced carbon emissions in Vietnam. However, concerns around employee privacy and safety protocols remain, underscoring the need for targeted legal reforms to overcome these barriers and enable further adoption of remote work. Given the feasibility constraints of current transportation emission proposals, remote work represents a viable alternative solution for driving carbon reductions in Vietnam. The paper presents an argument that Vietnam can achieve a greener economy while experiencing continued growth by implementing well-considered legal changes that encourage remote work. The potential benefits of remote work are significant, and with the appropriate incentives, it can be an effective mechanism to drive positive environmental change.
