In mid-October of 1516 (the eleventh year of Zhengde’s reign), Wang YangmingWang, Yangming returned to his hometown in Shaoxing. However, the imperial court immediately issued a sequence of orders, compelling him to go to Jiangxi. On October 24th, an edict from the emperor was announced, and on November 14th, the Ministry of War issued another official order. Yangming had no choice but to set off for his assignment. The next day, he bid farewell to his disciples, including Xu AiXu, Ai, Zhong Shifu, and Wang Shirui, at a banquet in the Yingjiang Tower.
