摘要

Analysis and design of structural components of buildings using manual calculations have been in practice, prior launching of designing software packages. Day to day increase in the use of softwares for design purpose of buildings without understanding the analytical concepts has become a common practice in young structural engineers, as a result they may not be able to achieve accurate results and can arrive at risky erroneous outcome. In this research paper, calculations of response quantities of RC building are done manually by using static force method and dynamic method of analysis. The design lateral load and story shear force for a plain ground building model and for a slope ground building model has been studied. Step back-set back building configuration at sloping angle 26.57° has been chosen for analysis in case of sloping configuration. Special Moment Resisting Frame (SMRF) RC building, which are especially detailed to provide ductile behaviour in compliance with IS 4326 or IS 13920 or SP 6 as per Indian standards has been selected for analysis. Design and analysis are done as per IS 1893(Part-1):2002. The effects of sloping ground building with selected building configuration, step back-set back conditions as compared to that of plain ground building is that building on sloping ground has variation of mass and stiffness along the height of the building. The distribution of mass and stiffness along each floor of multi-story building is found non-uniform throughout the height of the buildings.
