The book shows how the political hurdles could hinder the economic growth in rentier states and the KRI. Factors that hamper economic diversification such as rent-seeking behaviors and inefficient government institutions are also broadly evaluated. The analysis concerns overcoming the beforementioned challenges to improve the KRI’s economic performance. The need for institutional reform, protecting the rule of law, and moving toward economic diversification are among the suggestions for a healthier economy in the KRI.
