Political Challenges and Economic Development in the KRI

The interaction between politics and economics in the KRI because of the geopolitical situation and the historical features is unique. The currents chapter investigates the political challenges facing the KRI’s economic development. The main goal is to identify the challenges that could be political instability, corruption, or oil dependency. This chapter applies a qualitative approach to investigate the available resources and realize the most important political hurdles within the region. Moreover, the role of officials in running such dilemma is discussed. The results provide numerous challenges to the economic performance of the KRI that must be revised.
