In light of climate change and the need for long-term solutions, the problem of energy and greenhouse gases is crucial. As fossil fuels are used for transportation, power production, and industrial operations, human activities release greenhouse gases into the atmosphere, including carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrous oxide. These gases cause global warming by trapping solar heat, which has a variety of negative effects on the ecosystem, including climate change. It is necessary to switch to greener, more sustainable energy sources, increase energy efficiency, and lower energy consumption to lessen the negative consequences of greenhouse serve as primary reservoirs of renewable and sustainable energy (RSE). These resources can serve as complementing components in energy blend methods. Biofuels, hydropower, wind, solar, and geothermal sources are notable RSE categories that can all be used to meet energy demands. Furthermore, given the accelerating rate of population expansion, the use of bioenergy obtained from waste materials has the potential to greatly contribute to the long-term viability of waste management approaches. In light of this, the current chapter summarizes the capacity for generating renewable energy from various resources within India’s geographical boundaries.
