In this chapter, we have highlighted the historical perspectives, present status, and future prospects of pharmaceutical services in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). We have described the major landmark events that have evolved over the last 50 years in the development of pharmaceutical services (clinical pharmacy, hospital pharmacy, ambulatory pharmacy, and community pharmacy), the pharmaceutical industry (agents, companies, and manufacturing facilities), and regulatory affairs. The versatile pharmaceutical services in the UAE have been summarized. This chapter encompasses the recent advancements in pharmaceutical services, such as the pharmacist initiative for immunization in the Abu Dhabi emirate (pharmacist as immunizer), tele-pharmacy and artificial intelligence in pharmaceutical services, pharmacist prescribing, and innovative research in the pharmacy profession. The pharmaceutical industry in the UAE has grown tremendously over the last 50 years. The advancement of technology has been well recognized in the delivery of pharmaceutical care to the community. Pharmacists in the UAE strive daily to achieve and expedite quality care and patient satisfaction.
