The United Arab Emirates (UAE) is a member of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and belongs to the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region of the world. The UAE has one of the most advanced healthcare systems in the region, with medical care currently being provided by a combination of public and private healthcare providers. This chapter reviews the past and current care provided for neurological disorders in the UAE and outlines aspects of neurology that have the potential for growth in the UAE. The UAE also possesses a number of features that make it a destination of choice for medical tourism for the assessment and treatment of neurological disorders, with the potential for further expansion of medical tourism in the country.
