The aim of this chapter is to present an alternate approach to Indigenous health that is built on Ancient Indigenous Wisdoms that take into account the complex interdependency between humans and nature. The chapter first presents an overview of Indigenous commitment to nature, highlighting the broader holistic focus beyond the absence of disease. In recognition of the fact that there are many different Indigenous wisdoms, the second part of the chapter presents an example of how the Ancient Wisdoms of Australian Indigenous people can be applied to assist in providing healthcare with and for (rather than at or about) Australian Indigenous people. The chapter concludes with a discussion of the potential for a paradigm change to incorporate these wisdoms to improve Indigenous health.

摘要
