Having a look on the impacts of earthquakes occurred in the West and Central Asia during the last decades depicts the importance of developing rapid loss assessment systems (RLES) in this region. Accordingly, in this study, the current situation of earthquake monitoring systems and damage assessment tools in the West and Central Asia was assessed and the existing gaps for developing RLES were addressed. For this purpose, at first the seismicity of different countries located in this region was studied and the available earthquake monitoring systems and damage and loss assessment tools in these countries were evaluated, based on the published data, as well as information provided by some member states. Then, the shortages and advantages of the existing systems were assessed and finally the necessary measures for developing regional RLES were formulated. This will be an essential step for rapid response after earthquakes that have a crucial impact on reducing casualties and damage of earthquakes. In this paper a summary about this research is presented.
