Designing a Course Using the OBE Framework

Designing a course using OBE framework is systematic attempt to integrate outcomes with knowledge, learning process and assessment. This process involves aligning all the components of OBE and mapping different levels of outcomes using a top down approach. The graduate attributes must be mapped to programme learning outcomes,programme learning outcomes to course learning outcomes, course learning outcomes to module learning outcomes and module learning outcomes to lesson learning outcomes. The attainment learning outcomes at various levels must be compared against expected level of achievement to understand learning gaps. The learning gaps are diagnosed and remediated to ensure the attainment of threshold level of attainment of learning outcomes by all the learners. This chapter provides illustrations for aligning different components of OBE framework and mapping learning outcomes of various levels.
