Aligning Learning Outcomes and Evaluation

Evaluation provides feedbacks to different stakeholders on the attainment of educational outcomes. Evaluation is the process of judging the quality of educational process. Evaluation, assessment and measurement are the three terms in the field and are synonymously and interchangeably used. measurement is quantitative and assessment is both quantitative and qualitative while evaluation is qualitative judgement. Evaluation is based on measurement or assessment. Assessment can be classified into three–assessment as learning (self assessment), assessment for learning (continuous assessment) and assessment for learning (term assessment). It is the instructors' task to choose appropriate tools and techniques to check the attanment of learning outcomes. This chapter provides the details of various types educational evaluation and their uses in OBE framework.
